HOW to keep your cool at the 21st Australian Scout Jamboree is as clear as mud.

Scouts from all over the world took on the Venture Extreme activity at Elmore this week, which included a mud-laden obstacle course.

Activity manager Bruce Ouwerkerk said Venture Extreme had been one of the most popular activities during the hot weather.

"It's based on the tri-venturing badge and the kids love it," Mr Ouwerkerk said. "They're definitely two of the most popular activities."

As he explained, messing about with water in the middle of a drought need not cause alarm.

"We actually pumped the water in from the pond. It's all recycled water," he said.

The jamboree, which finishes on Friday, is host to 12,000 scouts from 20 countries
