BEING prepared comes naturally to Scouts so it was no surprise that the 21st Australian Jamboree was set up without a hitch.
Nearly 12,000 Scouts from all over the world made camp at Elmore yesterday for the state's first Jamboree in 15 years.
Scouts from 19 countries including England, Japan and Fiji brushed aside their jetlag to pitch tents and mingle.
Lauren Trumper, 15, and Liam Tebbutt, 12, from Essex in England arrived at 5am yesterday. "I'm having a great time already and I don't really feel tired," Lauren said. "There's loads of people to meet and the weather's amazing."
Lauren has already experienced international scouting after attending two events in Switzerland, but Liam was relishing his first overseas adventure. "It's really fun meeting all these people," he said.
Chief director of the jamboree Peter Mentiplay said he was looking forward to the next 11 days of activities.
